The fleet of three EADS Eurocopter EC665 Tiger HAP (Hélicoptère appui-protection) combat helicopters, operated by the French Army (Armée de Terre) 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment (5e Régiment d’Hélicoptères de Combat), has now logged more than 1000 flight hours in Afghanistan in less than a year.

In Afghanistan, the French Army ALAT (Aviation Légère de l’Armée de Terre) light aviation unit detachment operates three EC665 combat helicopters, two SA 342 L1 Gazelle Viviane reconnaissance helicopters and two AS 532L Cougar tactical transport helicopters.
