According iCasualties research website, Portugal has lost two soldiers since the country sent military personnel to Afghanistan.

Portuguese Army´s 22 years old Private Sérgio Miguel Vidal Oliveira Pedrosa died on 11-24-2007 in Wardak province due to an accident with its M1025A2 APK light armoured vehicle and 33 years old 1st Sergeant Joao Paul Roma Pereira died on 11-18-2005 in Kabul due to a IED attack against its VAMTAC light tactical vehicle.

According the same source, since 2001 and to date, the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) coalition has lost a total of 2002 soldiers. The contingent with major fatalities is USA which has lost 1226 soldiers.
