The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has taken delivery of six JAS 39 Gripen C/D combat aircraft.

These aircraft now received belong to the first batch ordered in 2008. In total, Thailand has ordered 12 aircraft to Swedish company SAAB to equip the Wing 7 in Surat Thani.

The six aircraft are part of an intergovernmental business transaction where FMV (Försvarets MaterielVerk), the Swedish Defence Material Administration, representing the Government of Sweden, supplies an integrated air defence system which comprises the Gripen C/D aircraft, SAAB 340 Erieye AEW (Airborne Early Warning) aircraft and a command & control system.
